We Daisy arrived just a few months after Molly. She was our second rescue and like Dougal, four years old. She was barely bigger than Emily but she is a Grand Bassett Griffon Vendeen.
It wasn't until we came to Canada and I captured the pure joy in these shots that I realised that she was finally OK.
When we first got Daisy there seemed to be an overwhelming sense of sadness in every picture I took of her.
Considering the experiences she had been through, this shouldn't have been surprising, but it was upsetting.
Daisy didn't mix terribly well with the other dogs, so she was always photographed on her own.
She was happy enough when she was around us or being allowed to indulge in some of the behaviours that had been a part of her previous existence.
Otherwise she would exude melancholy.
