It is a source of great sadness that we have so few pictures of Sage. She was a rescue; she was an avatar; and she was only with us for 27 days. Yet in that time she probably had a more profound affect upon our lives than any of our dogs.
We don't even have any pictures that do justice to Sage.

She was stunning and we had only just started to get to know her when she died.

When you get a dog you imagine that there will be many days in which to take photographs.

We now know that's not always true.
This is the photo I mention in the book that we took on Christmas Eve at Lake Louise.

People stopped me just to photograph Sage.

The final picture is tinged with sadness. It was taken looking out of the window from the very postion I'm sitting in now.

She would sit there for hours just watching the squirrels.

The tree to her immediate right now bears a slate plaque that simply says: "Sage. Always with us."
