Sadly, Saffy has also left us. She went just three weeks before Joe and although it was pretty much expected, it was a shock nonetheless.

Her many illnesses were obvious and devastating. She came to us looking like a concentration camp victim and never got any better. We always assumed that she would recover and get better, and for several weeks she clearly experienced a new lease of life.

However, it was not to be and for her final month with us, Saffy went slowly down hill.

She bore her plight with absolute dignity and to the end was a wonderful character, surprisingly vivacious in the midst of the relentless collapse of her internal organs.

When the pain became obvious we were quick to act to end the suffering. Her five months with us were four and a half months longer than we'd expected.

We only have a couple of photos of her.
